Product Overview
The JDY Performance MK8 Intake System is a high-flow intake upgrade developed specifically for the EA888 EVO4 platform, including the Volkswagen Golf MK8 R and GTI.
Designed around OEM 3D scan data, the system optimizes the complete airflow path ahead of the turbocharger. By increasing inlet diameter and reducing unnecessary restrictions and transitions, the system is designed to improve airflow capacity and provide a more efficient intake path for both stock and upgraded turbocharger applications.
Two configurations are available to suit different levels of modification:
Stage 1 retains the OEM airbox while upgrading the restrictive intake path between the airbox and turbocharger.
Stage 2 replaces the OEM airbox and upgrades the complete intake tract with a JDY high-flow airbox, 5-inch filter, 4-inch titanium intake pipe and 3.5-inch turbo inlet.
Both versions utilize factory mounting locations for straightforward installation and OEM-style fitment.
Stage 1 – High-Flow Turbo Inlet Upgrade
Stage 1 is designed as a direct and effective upgrade for vehicles retaining the factory airbox.
The OEM intake layout is maintained while the airflow path between the airbox and turbocharger is substantially enlarged.
3.5” Reinforced Silicone Intake Hose
The factory intake connection is approximately 70 mm in diameter. The JDY Stage 1 system increases this section to 3.5 inches / 88.9 mm.
The reinforced silicone hose features:
- 3.5” internal diameter
- Smooth internal surface
- Reinforced construction
- Internal wire support to resist deformation under high airflow demand
- Direct connection between the OEM airbox and JDY turbo inlet
The larger and smoother intake path helps reduce restriction ahead of the turbocharger.
3.5” CNC-Machined Turbo Inlet
At the heart of both Stage 1 and Stage 2 is the JDY 3.5-inch Turbo Inlet.
The inlet is CNC machined for accurate fitment and a smooth transition into the turbocharger, significantly increasing the available airflow area compared with the factory intake path.

Stage 1 is ideal for customers looking for a clean, simple intake upgrade while retaining the factory airbox and OEM-style engine bay layout.
Stage 2 – Complete 4” High-Flow Intake System
Stage 2 is designed for customers looking to maximize airflow throughout the complete pre-turbo intake system.
Building on the Stage 1 turbo inlet, Stage 2 replaces the factory airbox and intake tubing to create a substantially larger and less restrictive intake path from the air filter to the turbocharger.
4” Titanium Intake Pipe
The Stage 2 system features a 4-inch titanium intake pipe connecting the JDY airbox to the turbo inlet.
Titanium provides an excellent combination of low weight, strength, corrosion resistance and premium appearance.
Four titanium finishes are available:
- Blue
- Purple
- Gold
- Silver
Each pipe is formed and welded specifically for the MK8 engine bay.
JDY High-Flow Airbox
The Stage 2 airbox utilizes JDY’s proven airbox architecture, adapted for direct installation on the MK8 platform using the factory mounting position.
The enclosure is manufactured from aluminum sheet using CNC laser cutting and CNC press-brake forming processes to maintain consistent dimensions and fitment.
Key construction features include:
- CNC laser-cut aluminum construction
- CNC press-brake formed panels
- Electrostatic powder-coated surface finish
- PEM self-clinching nuts throughout the enclosure
- 304 stainless-steel fasteners
- Factory-position mounting
- Designed for a 5” high-flow air filter
PEM self-clinching hardware provides a strong mechanical connection without the heat-affected areas associated with welded nuts, while also providing excellent resistance to vibration and loosening.
5” High-Flow Air Filter
Stage 2 uses a dedicated 5-inch high-flow air filter, providing the airflow capacity required by the larger 4-inch intake tract.
The oversized filter and enlarged intake path are designed to support significantly increased airflow demand on modified EA888 EVO4 applications.
4” to 3.5” Reinforced Transition Hose
A reinforced silicone reducer connects the 4-inch titanium intake pipe to the 3.5-inch turbo inlet.
The smooth transition minimizes abrupt changes in the intake path, while internal wire reinforcement helps the hose maintain its shape under high airflow conditions.
Dedicated Diverter Valve Connection
Due to the limited packaging space of the MK8 engine bay, JDY developed a dedicated diverter-valve hose and fitting arrangement for the Stage 2 intake.
This allows the factory-style recirculation system to integrate cleanly with the larger intake assembly without compromising the main airflow path.
